JEWELLERY:

BEFORE EDIT:

This is my chosen image for my jewellery response. I have looked at lighting and texture in this image. The lighting is reflecting on the sequences on the necklace to make them look sparkly. The main focus is at the front of the necklace which then leads you into the picture. I took a close up shot to look at the depth of the necklace so I could get every little detail. The texture of the turmeric is rough around the necklace but gets smoother as it spreads out. I liked this image because it had he best composition. To improve this image, I could have had the rough texture all around the framing. I could have also used the Nikon D90 with a close up lens in stead of using a small Nikon camera. That would have helped me as I could have got into the details of the necklace a bit more.

AFTER EDIT:

This is my reply. I have created a reply to my researched image about jewellery and have used the concept of taking a picture of a necklace in a traditional element used in wedding rituals. In my researched image, a gold and red necklace was in vermillion so I used the concept and got a gold and silver necklace ad placed it in turmeric powder. I used a gold and silver necklace because the gold was clashing with the colour of the turmeric which looked good and in my researched image, there was a bit of red in the necklace to match the colour of the vermillion. I used turmeric because it is used in one of the Indian wedding rituals called the ‘Haldi’ ceremony. This ceremony usually takes place before the wedding. I combined the idea of jewellery photography and Indian rituals together to create a meaning behind the image. I used a small Nikon camera and put the settings on ‘Close-up’ to take some images. This image and a few other images, I took with my iPhone. I used snaptica which is an app, to edit the brightness, contrast, highlight, shadow and spot effect on the image. I find my image successful because it is clearly showing what it means and the composition was good. The element of texture inspired me from my researched image as I wanted to create a similar thought provoking image by using the concept of texture. I would change the background of the turmeric to make it look more like scattered turmeric powder.
